The first public (government) building in Tyrone was erected in 1857 and later on a brick two-story building on 10th Street. In 1916 the Tyrone
Borough built its Municipal Building at 1100 Logan Avenue. The builder
was J. Van Hildebrand and the cost was $24,640. The architect was W.F.
Wise. When dedicated, all businesses closed at noon so the people could
be present for the dedication. The Municipal Building was built on the
site of the National Hotel (1870's) the Constitutional Amendment Hotel
(1880's) and then private homes.
