During the summer months, the smell of picnic foods float through
the air at Reservoir Park, as families fill the park with happy
laughing people and picnic baskets brimming with goodies. Reservoir
Park is one of Tyrone’s most beautiful landmarks. The thirty-three
acre tract of land on which the park was built was donated by
one of Tyrone’s most outstanding citizens, A. A. Stevens. The beauty
of the land and trees is preserved the way God created them.
Every Saturday and Sunday the tables, reserved months in advance,
are filled with family reunions and picnics. The Tyrone Borough
maintains swings and rides for the children, and well cared for
tables and fireplaces dot the park. There is a large wooden pavilion,
still located there, that housed two dances a week for the young
people of Tyrone from the 1930’s – 1960’s. Reservoir Park has
been a historical part of Tyrone and has been well maintained
throughout the years.
