Now Hiring: Sewer Department
The Borough of Tyrone is accepting applications for two full-time positions at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Shifts vary by position, with overtime as required, and the Borough offers an attractive wage and fringe-benefit package.
Sewer Department Laborer/Helper
An entry-level position — no prior experience required. You'll support plant and collection-system crews while learning the trade on the job.
What you'll do
- Assist plant and collection-system personnel
- Make daily plant rounds and report any problems found
- Maintain plant grounds and buildings — grass cutting, painting, sand blasting, floor scrubbing, and janitorial work
What you'll need
- Education equivalent to high school graduation
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
- Commercial Driver's License within one year of hire
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and work outdoors in all weather
Sewer Treatment Plant Operator
Semi-skilled work operating and maintaining sewer plant treatment equipment — varied assignments carried out independently, with close attention to detail and safety.
What you'll do
- Operate treatment equipment — chemical feed systems, pumps, blowers, and motors
- Read and record plant meters and gauge readings
- Collect sewer samples for laboratory analysis
- Keep daily reports, the plant logbook, and supply inventory
- Troubleshoot and maintain department equipment
What you'll need
- Education equivalent to high school graduation
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
- Class B CDL with air brake within six months of hire
- Class A wastewater license within one year
- DEP sewer treatment certification within DEP time allotments (not required for hire)
